Where is Porkbun, and which law applies to it?
Porkbun is a US registrar in Oregon. The postal address on its payment page, read on 19 October 2026, is in Tigard, Oregon. US federal and Oregon law therefore apply to the company itself. A US court order or a federal warrant can be served on it without any treaty.
PanamaRegistrar is operated by DomaineGoat LLC, incorporated in Panama. A foreign civil judgment binds us only after exequatur by the Fourth Chamber of Panama's Supreme Court, under Law 61 of 2015. A foreign criminal request goes through Panamanian authorities, for example under the US–Panama mutual legal assistance treaty in force since 6 September 1995.
The registry layer does not change. Every .com sits with Verisign in Reston, Virginia, whichever registrar you use. The registry jurisdiction index shows where each registry we sell is based.
When does Porkbun ask for ID?
For a subset of new accounts. Porkbun's help article on ID verification, updated 19 June 2026, says it requires photo ID from some new accounts, through the Veriff service. It does not list the exact signals used to pick those accounts. Porkbun says submissions are kept for 15 days to be reviewed, then deleted. After that, only a record that you passed remains.
At PanamaRegistrar, no account is ever asked for an ID document, a selfie or an ID number. You get a random account number. Each domain needs one email address that you confirm, because ICANN rules require the registrant's email to be verified within 15 days. That email is never published. Details: no-KYC domain registration.
Can I pay Porkbun in crypto?
Yes, in USDC only. Porkbun's payment options page, read on 19 October 2026, says it accepts USDC through Coinbase Business. Its separate /bitcoin page mentioned several cryptocurrencies when we read it on 8 October 2026, so the two pages did not match. The support page is the more specific of the two.
Porkbun's strength is the choice of other methods. It lists Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Diners Club and JCB cards. It also takes Alipay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Amazon Pay, PayPal and US bank transfer.
PanamaRegistrar takes crypto only: Bitcoin (BTC), Tether (USDT), USD Coin (USDC), Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), Litecoin (LTC). USDT works on TRC-20 or ERC-20. You top up a balance, minimum $25. Send the exact amount on the exact network; the top-up is credited after the network confirmations. See buying a domain with crypto.
Is Porkbun less expensive than PanamaRegistrar?
On the four extensions we compared, yes. Porkbun charged $11.08 a year for a .com on 8 October 2026, first year and renewal. We charge $11.99. Its .net is $12.52 and its .org $7.98 the first year, then $11.84.
The .io follows the same pattern. Porkbun charges $28.12 the first year and $51.80 to renew; ours is $52.99 every year. On the four extensions in the table, Porkbun is the less expensive of the two.
What the price difference buys is a different procedure: no ID at any point, stablecoins, and Panamanian law for the registrar. Whether that is worth the difference on your extension is your decision. All our prices are on the price list.
What happens if someone complains about my domain?
At PanamaRegistrar, a complaint alone does not suspend a domain, outside five named categories. Phishing, malware, botnets, child sexual abuse material and fraud that takes money from victims are suspended on a well-documented report. Copyright, defamation, political or competitor complaints need a decision from a Panamanian court.
You are told before any action on your domain, unless the law or the court order forbids it. With Domain protection, every complaint is also read by a person before any action on the domain. Court orders are checked too: we confirm every order with the court or prosecutor's office that issued it, through its official contact details, before acting. The full steps are on the takedown procedure page.
We did not review Porkbun's complaint policy for this page. As an ICANN-accredited registrar, it has the same duty as our registrar partner to act promptly on well-documented DNS abuse. That duty is in section 3.18.2 of the registrar contract, in force since 5 April 2024.

Yes. Unlock each domain at Porkbun and copy its transfer code. Start the transfer from your PanamaRegistrar account and pay one year at our transfer price, $11.99 for a .com. That year is added to a generic extension. ICANN rules require the registrant email to be verified within 15 days.
Does a service in Panama stop US courts from reaching my .com?
No. Verisign, the .com registry, is in Reston, Virginia, and a US court can order it directly. A service in Panama changes who handles complaints and data requests made to it. It cannot change the registry's law, nor that of its registrar partner. See can a foreign court seize my domain?.
