What should an abuse report contain?

The domain name, the exact URL, what it does (phishing page, malware download, command-and-control server, fraudulent shop) and the evidence: a screenshot with the date and time, the email that delivered the link, or a malware hash. A report that lets us see the abuse ourselves is acted on within 24 hours of a well-documented report. Child sexual abuse material is handled immediately, and the URLs are reported to NCMEC.

Do not attach the malware itself. Do not send the personal data of victims unless it is needed to show the fraud. The report abuse page lists what we accept as evidence.

What should a complaint or a court order contain?

A complaint about content (copyright, defamation, a political or commercial dispute) is logged, but it does not suspend a domain on its own: a decision that binds us, such as a decision from a Panamanian court, is needed. Send it anyway if you want the domain holder to know about it; we forward it to the holder's verified email.

A court order should be sent as a scanned copy with the court, the case number and a contact at the court. Our rule: we confirm every order with the court or prosecutor's office that issued it, through its official contact details, before acting. A foreign order must first be recognised in Panama; the court orders page explains the exequatur procedure before the Supreme Court of Justice.

Our ICANN-accredited registrar partner, shown in the RDAP record of each domain, has its own abuse contact; this page covers what PanamaRegistrar itself handles.

What will support never ask you?

We never ask for your password, your account number or your domain transfer (EPP) codes by email or chat. If someone claiming to be PanamaRegistrar asks for them, it is not us: forward the message to [email protected]. We also never ask for an ID document, a selfie or a phone number, at any point of the customer relationship.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a phone line or a chat?

No. Every request goes by email so that it leaves a written, dated record. That record is what the transparency report counts and what a court can review if a decision is ever challenged.

Do I need an account to report abuse?

No. ICANN requires registrars to accept abuse reports from anyone, and we apply the same rule: [email protected] needs no account, no form and no login. You get an automatic acknowledgement with a reference number.

Will the domain holder see my complaint?

Usually yes. We forward complaints about content to the holder's verified email, because the holder is the person who can answer them. We remove your email address if you ask. Abuse reports on phishing or malware are not forwarded before action.

You get an automatic acknowledgement with a reference number; then we confirm every order with the court or prosecutor's office that issued it, through its official contact details, before acting. Urgent cases (threat to life, serious bodily injury, child abuse material) are handled first.
