Who runs the .info registry, and from which country?

IANA names Identity Digital Limited as manager of .info, with the address "c/o Identity Digital Inc., 10500 NE 8th Street, Bellevue, Washington". The same company is technical operator. Identity Digital runs many extensions from that address, including .pro, .live and .email. For .info, IANA lists no classic WHOIS server: lookups go to RDAP at rdap.identitydigital.services. The record was last updated on 9 October 2026, ten days before we checked it. .info is a generic top-level domain under contract with ICANN.

Can a court in the United States take down or seize a .info domain?

The registry address for .info is in Washington State, so the United States is the country whose courts can act at registry level. Under 15 U.S.C. §1125(d)(2), a mark owner who cannot reach a registrant can file against the domain in the district where the registry is located. The court can order forfeiture, cancellation or transfer, and the registry must keep the domain unchanged while the case is pending. Identity Digital receives such orders as the registry company. A registrar in Panama does not stand between them.

What does PanamaRegistrar do with a complaint about a .info domain?

Nothing happens to a .info domain on a complaint alone. Copyright, defamation, political or competitor complaints need a decision from a Panamanian court; a foreign judgment must first be recognised in Panama by exequatur. Phishing, malware, botnets and fraud that takes money from victims are suspended within 24 hours of a well-documented report, child sexual abuse material immediately, and the URLs are reported to NCMEC. You are told before any action on your domain, unless the law or the court order forbids it; with Domain protection, every complaint is also read by a person before any action on the domain. This rule covers what PanamaRegistrar does, not the registry or our registrar partner. Steps and time limits: takedown procedure and how we handle complaints.

Who uses .info domains, and why?

The dataset lists information sites, documentation and landing pages as typical .info uses. There is no restriction on who can register, and terms run from 1 to 10 years. .info is one of the older generic extensions, from the first expansion of the root after .com, .net and .org. Its record now lives with the same company as several newer extensions, which makes its legal position close to theirs.

Which registry rules are specific to .info?

.info has DNSSEC and IDN support. IANA shows no WHOIS host for it, only RDAP, so a command-line WHOIS client may return nothing for a .info name; an RDAP client or ICANN Lookup works. The registry has no residence or purpose rule. IANA last changed the .info record on 9 October 2026, ten days before our check.

What does the WHOIS show for a .info domain?

WHOIS privacy is allowed for .info and is free at PanamaRegistrar. The public lookup is RDAP at rdap.identitydigital.services, so the output is structured data: registrar, event dates, nameservers, status codes, and redacted or privacy contact fields. Your own name, address and email are not published while privacy is on, and with Domain protection the registry never receives them.

Do I need Domain protection for a .info domain?

No, it is optional: +$29 per year, on top of the .info price. Domain protection registers the domain in the name of DomaineGoat LLC, so the registration record and WHOIS/RDAP show our company, never you, and you can take it back in your own name for free. A transfer lock is on, and any transfer or DNS change must be confirmed from your account. We then hold only your email, and a person reads every complaint before any action on the domain; that review exists only with the option. It does not move the registry or change its courts.

Which dispute policy applies to .info?

.info follows the UDRP, as every gTLD does. We could not confirm whether the URS applies to .info: it was designed for new gTLDs, and older contracts differ. When a UDRP provider writes to us, we lock the domain within 2 business days and apply the panel decision. Our steps for trademark cases: UDRP and URS.

How much does a .info domain cost, and how is it renewed?

At PanamaRegistrar, as of October 2026, .info costs $20.99/year; renewal is $20.99/year, and a transfer $20.99 with one year added, as ICANN rules provide for generic extensions. Term: 1 to 10 years. Payment is in crypto (BTC, USDT, USDC, ETH, SOL, LTC) from a prepaid balance, minimum top-up $25. Every extension: price list.

.info questions

Why does a WHOIS lookup on a .info domain return nothing?

IANA lists no WHOIS server for .info, only an RDAP service at rdap.identitydigital.services. Many command-line WHOIS clients still query the old port 43 service and get no answer. An RDAP client or the ICANN Lookup tool shows the record, including the registrar, the dates and the status codes.

Who can order changes to a .info domain?

Identity Digital, the registry, can be ordered by United States courts, because IANA lists it at an address in Bellevue, Washington. PanamaRegistrar acts only on a decision that binds it, such as a Panamanian court order, or under the strict exceptions: phishing, malware, botnets, child abuse material and fraud. See the takedown procedure.

Is .info open to anyone?

Yes. .info has no eligibility, residence or purpose rule, and a name can be registered for 1 to 10 years. At PanamaRegistrar, one verified email per domain is enough, with no ID document, and the price is the same for the first year and each renewal. Payment is in crypto from a prepaid balance.

Can PanamaRegistrar stop the .info registry from acting on a court order?

No. The .info registry, Identity Digital Limited, keeps its own copy of the registration and applies the law of its own country. PanamaRegistrar decides only what its own service does: we act on Panamanian court orders, not on unverified complaints. Our registrar partner also keeps its own legal duties. We tell you when we learn of a registry-level action, unless the law or the order forbids it. See the registry jurisdiction index.

How do I pay for a .info domain?

In crypto only: BTC, USDT, USDC, ETH, SOL, LTC. Top up your balance (minimum $25), then register the .info domain from it at $20.99/year. Send the exact amount on the exact network; the top-up is credited after the network confirmations. No ID and no KYC: one verified email per domain, never published.
