Who runs the .pl registry, and from which country?
IANA lists the Research and Academic Computer Network, known as NASK, at Kolska 12, Warsaw, as manager and technical operator of .pl. WHOIS answers on whois.dns.pl and RDAP on rdap.dns.pl. The registry website is dns.pl, and IANA updated the record on 24 April 2026. .pl follows NASK's rules and Polish law, with no ICANN registry agreement.
Can a court in Poland take down or seize a .pl domain?
Polish courts have direct authority over NASK in Warsaw. Poland is an EU member state, so a judgment from another member state can be recognised there under EU rules. We could not confirm NASK's published procedure for court orders, so we state none here. A foreign court order outside the EU would need Polish recognition to bind the registry.
What does PanamaRegistrar do with a complaint about a .pl domain?
Nothing happens to a .pl domain on a complaint alone. Copyright, defamation, political or competitor complaints need a decision from a Panamanian court; a foreign judgment must first be recognised in Panama by exequatur. Phishing, malware, botnets and fraud that takes money from victims are suspended within 24 hours of a well-documented report, child sexual abuse material immediately, and the URLs are reported to NCMEC. You are told before any action on your domain, unless the law or the court order forbids it; with Domain protection, every complaint is also read by a person before any action on the domain. This rule covers what PanamaRegistrar does, not the registry or our registrar partner. Steps and time limits: takedown procedure and how we handle complaints.
Who uses .pl domains, and why?
Sites aimed at the Polish market use .pl, according to the dataset. Polish companies, shops and media choose it first. Terms run from 1 to 10 years, longer than several other European country codes such as .de, .nl or .be. Anyone can register, with no residence rule recorded in the dataset.
Which registry rules are specific to .pl?
NASK does not publish data of individual holders in public lookups, according to the dataset. .pl allows terms of up to 10 years and supports DNSSEC and IDN. PanamaRegistrar sells .pl with Domain protection only, because the registry needs a holder name and a postal address. The registry runs both WHOIS and RDAP services.
What does the WHOIS show for a .pl domain?
Personal data of individuals is not published on .pl, per the dataset. Lookups on whois.dns.pl or rdap.dns.pl show the registrar, dates and nameservers. With Domain protection, the holder of record is our company, so the registry receives our details, never yours.
