Who runs the .pro registry, and from which country?

The IANA root zone database lists Identity Digital Limited, "c/o Identity Digital Inc." in Bellevue, Washington, as manager and technical operator of .pro. Lookups go to RDAP at rdap.identitydigital.services; no WHOIS host is listed. IANA updated the record on 13 October 2026. .pro started as a restricted extension for licensed professionals. The dataset records that it has been unrestricted since November 2015. Its contract is with ICANN, and its operator is a United States company.

Can a court in the United States take down or seize a .pro domain?

At registry level, .pro answers to United States courts, through Identity Digital. A trademark owner unable to reach the registrant can bring an in rem case in the district where the registry is located, under the Anticybersquatting Consumer Protection Act. The court can then order the name cancelled, forfeited or transferred. Identity Digital would apply such an order to the registry record directly. Our role does not include a veto over it.

What does PanamaRegistrar do with a complaint about a .pro domain?

Nothing happens to a .pro domain on a complaint alone. Copyright, defamation, political or competitor complaints need a decision from a Panamanian court; a foreign judgment must first be recognised in Panama by exequatur. Phishing, malware, botnets and fraud that takes money from victims are suspended within 24 hours of a well-documented report, child sexual abuse material immediately, and the URLs are reported to NCMEC. You are told before any action on your domain, unless the law or the court order forbids it; with Domain protection, every complaint is also read by a person before any action on the domain. This rule covers what PanamaRegistrar does, not the registry or our registrar partner. Steps and time limits: takedown procedure and how we handle complaints.

Who uses .pro domains, and why?

Professionals, freelancers and consultants use .pro, according to the dataset. Since the 2015 change, no licence or professional proof is needed. Lawyers, accountants and engineers still use it as a signal of profession. Terms run from 1 to 10 years, and the price is the same every year at PanamaRegistrar.

Which registry rules are specific to .pro?

The end of the professional check in November 2015 is the main point to know: older guides that mention credentials for .pro are out of date. .pro has DNSSEC and IDN support. Like .info, it has no classic WHOIS server listed at IANA, so lookups use RDAP. IANA changed the .pro record on 13 October 2026, a few days before our check.

What does the WHOIS show for a .pro domain?

.pro allows WHOIS privacy, included free at PanamaRegistrar. RDAP output from Identity Digital shows the registrar, the dates, the nameservers and the status codes. Personal contact fields stay hidden behind privacy, or behind our company's details with Domain protection, so a client who looks you up sees your website, not your home address.

Do I need Domain protection for a .pro domain?

No, it is optional: +$29 per year, on top of the .pro price. Domain protection registers the domain in the name of DomaineGoat LLC, so the registration record and WHOIS/RDAP show our company, never you, and you can take it back in your own name for free. A transfer lock is on, and any transfer or DNS change must be confirmed from your account. We then hold only your email, and a person reads every complaint before any action on the domain; that review exists only with the option. It does not move the registry or change its courts.

Which dispute policy applies to .pro?

UDRP applies to .pro, as to every gTLD. We could not confirm the current URS status of .pro from its contract, so we do not state it. Trademark claims reach us through the UDRP provider: we lock the domain within 2 business days, apply the panel decision and tell the customer. Professional-title disputes are not UDRP matters. Our steps for trademark cases: UDRP and URS.

How much does a .pro domain cost, and how is it renewed?

At PanamaRegistrar, as of October 2026, .pro costs $20.99/year; renewal is $20.99/year, and a transfer $20.99 with one year added, as ICANN rules provide for generic extensions. Term: 1 to 10 years. .pro questions

Do I need a professional licence to register a .pro domain?

No. According to our dataset, .pro has been unrestricted since November 2015. Anyone can register one, for 1 to 10 years. PanamaRegistrar asks for one verified email per domain and no ID, and the domain is paid from a crypto balance.

Where is the .pro registry located?

IANA lists Identity Digital Limited, c/o Identity Digital Inc., at 10500 NE 8th Street in Bellevue, Washington, United States. The same company is the technical operator, so the registry record and the lookup service are both in the United States.

Can PanamaRegistrar refuse a US order addressed to the .pro registry?

No. An order served on Identity Digital is between the court and the registry. We decide what PanamaRegistrar does, under Panamanian procedure. We cannot cancel or reverse what a registry does under its own country's law. We tell you when we learn of such an order, unless it forbids it.

Can PanamaRegistrar stop the .pro registry from acting on a court order?

No. The .pro registry, Identity Digital Limited, keeps its own copy of the registration and applies the law of its own country. PanamaRegistrar decides only what its own service does: we act on Panamanian court orders, not on unverified complaints. Our registrar partner also keeps its own legal duties. We tell you when we learn of a registry-level action, unless the law or the order forbids it. See the registry jurisdiction index.

How do I pay for a .pro domain?

In crypto only: BTC, USDT, USDC, ETH, SOL, LTC. Top up your balance (minimum $25), then register the .pro domain from it at $20.99/year. Send the exact amount on the exact network; the top-up is credited after the network confirmations. No ID and no KYC: one verified email per domain, never published.
