Who runs the .tech registry, and from which country?

Radix Technologies Inc. is the .tech manager in the IANA database, at the same Grand Cayman corporate address as .store. Tucows.com, Co. is technical operator, from 96 Mowat Avenue, Toronto. WHOIS answers on whois.nic.tech. IANA last updated the record on 14 April 2026, two weeks before the other Radix records. As a new gTLD, .tech is governed by its ICANN registry agreement and by Radix's own registration policies.

Can a court in the Cayman Islands take down or seize a .tech domain?

A .tech record is held by a Cayman Islands company and stored by a Canadian operator. A court in Grand Cayman can act against the registry company; a Canadian court can act against Tucows. Each would apply its own procedure, and we could not confirm either registry's published process for court orders. For trademark claims, the ICANN procedures are faster than any court and apply in every country.

What does PanamaRegistrar do with a complaint about a .tech domain?

Nothing happens to a .tech domain on a complaint alone. Copyright, defamation, political or competitor complaints need a decision from a Panamanian court; a foreign judgment must first be recognised in Panama by exequatur. Phishing, malware, botnets and fraud that takes money from victims are suspended within 24 hours of a well-documented report, child sexual abuse material immediately, and the URLs are reported to NCMEC. You are told before any action on your domain, unless the law or the court order forbids it; with Domain protection, every complaint is also read by a person before any action on the domain. This rule covers what PanamaRegistrar does, not the registry or our registrar partner. Steps and time limits: takedown procedure and how we handle complaints.

Who uses .tech domains, and why?

Tech startups, hardware and software companies use .tech, according to the dataset. It reads as a sector label, so it fits a company name followed by its field. Anyone can register, for 1 to 10 years. Startups that plan to raise money often check registry jurisdiction as part of their legal review; this page gives that answer in one place.

Which registry rules are specific to .tech?

.tech belongs to the same Radix family as .online and .store, so the three share their registry company, their back end and their RDAP host. A change in Radix's policy usually reaches all three. .tech supports DNSSEC and IDN. IANA updated its record on 14 April 2026, while the other two Radix records changed on 27 April 2026.

What does the WHOIS show for a .tech domain?

Privacy is allowed on .tech. WHOIS privacy is free at PanamaRegistrar, so the public record on whois.nic.tech shows privacy details instead of yours. The registrar, dates, nameservers and status codes stay public, as for every domain. With Domain protection, the registry receives our company's name and address as holder.

Do I need Domain protection for a .tech domain?

No, it is optional: +$29 per year, on top of the .tech price. Domain protection registers the domain in the name of DomaineGoat LLC, so the registration record and WHOIS/RDAP show our company, never you, and you can take it back in your own name for free. A transfer lock is on, and any transfer or DNS change must be confirmed from your account. We then hold only your email, and a person reads every complaint before any action on the domain; that review exists only with the option. It does not move the registry or change its courts.

Which dispute policy applies to .tech?

UDRP and URS both apply to .tech, as a new gTLD. We lock within 2 business days of a UDRP provider's request and apply the panel decision. URS suspensions are carried out by the registry. Patent or software licence disputes are not UDRP matters; at PanamaRegistrar they need a Panamanian court decision. Our steps for trademark cases: UDRP and URS.

How much does a .tech domain cost, and how is it renewed?

At PanamaRegistrar, as of October 2026, .tech costs $51.99/year; renewal is $51.99/year, and a transfer $51.99 with one year added, as ICANN rules provide for generic extensions. Term: 1 to 10 years. Payment is in crypto (BTC, USDT, USDC, ETH, SOL, LTC) from a prepaid balance, minimum top-up $25. Every extension: price list.

.tech questions

Which company is behind the .tech registry?

Radix Technologies Inc., listed by IANA at a corporate address in Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands. Its technical operator is Tucows.com, Co. in Toronto. Radix also runs .online and .store, and Tucows is the operator of all three.

Do Cayman Islands courts decide .tech disputes?

Not trademark disputes, which go through the UDRP or the URS. A Cayman court can act against the registry company itself, and a Canadian court against the Toronto operator. PanamaRegistrar acts only under Panamanian procedure; see the takedown procedure.

Is .tech open to anyone?

Yes. The registry sets no eligibility rule, and terms run from 1 to 10 years. PanamaRegistrar needs one verified email per domain, never published, and payment in crypto. Startups that register several names can pay them all from one balance.

Can PanamaRegistrar stop the .tech registry from acting on a court order?

No. The .tech registry, Radix Technologies Inc., keeps its own copy of the registration and applies the law of its own country. PanamaRegistrar decides only what its own service does: we act on Panamanian court orders, not on unverified complaints. Our registrar partner also keeps its own legal duties. We tell you when we learn of a registry-level action, unless the law or the order forbids it. See the registry jurisdiction index.

How do I pay for a .tech domain?

In crypto only: BTC, USDT, USDC, ETH, SOL, LTC. Top up your balance (minimum $25), then register the .tech domain from it at $51.99/year. Send the exact amount on the exact network; the top-up is credited after the network confirmations. No ID and no KYC: one verified email per domain, never published.
